On this first day, your actual adventurous trip to Everest Base Camp begins.

We take an early morning flight (30-40 minutes) from Kathmandu to Lukla. As the plane passes between towering mountains, the flight offers you the heart-pounding experience of the turbulence and tranquil picturesque of the Himalayan range. Finally, you land at Lukla airport – the gateway to the Everest Region.

How would you feel landing on the airport with just a single runway on a cliff? You will get surprised. Right? Lukla airport is one of the most dangerous airports in the world.

At Lukla, you get to rest for some time, meet your local porters and arrange the luggage.

From Lukla, after showing your Trekking Permit at the Lukla checkpoint, your footsteps head towards Phakding – a Sherpa village renowned for the 500 years old monastery.  You follow the trails down to Thalsaroa, and then to Cheplung. Then, the trail traces along Dudh Koshi valley enjoying the introductory view of Mt. Khumbila (5,761m/18901ft). You continue your pace for a few hours and reach Ghat (2,520m/8,350ft). Further a short walk from Ghat, we reach Phakding – our today’s destination. Enjoy the best hotel, hygienic cuisine, and friendly hospitality with superb service at Phakding.

Ahead, we cross the Tenzing-Hillary suspension bridge over Dudh-Koshi River, ascend via the pine and fir forest to the ridge.

On the trail toward the ridge, we have the first glimpse of Mt. Everest.  Enjoy it.

My sister and I went on a trip to Nepal in Oct 2018. We got in touch with Ram of Lonely Nepal Travels after a few of our friends reccomended him to us, and we were so glad we did! Nepal has so much to offer, and our trip was planned according to our interests and what we wanted to do. It included everything from visiting town squares and cultural/religious sites, to some adventure like bungee jumping/white water rafting/paragliding, and a trek to Poon Hill.

Everything was taken care of, down to the smallest details, and the guide was so kind as to invite us out for a traditional Nepalese dinner the day we landed in Kathmandu.

I am already looking forward to planning another trip to Nepal, one exclusively for trekking, with Lonely Nepal Travels’ very experienced guides.

    Namaste!

We went on a 10-day trip to Nepal and had the most amazing time with Ram and the team. They were always there for us, with us throughout our journey to make sure that we were having a blast.
We went on a 4-days hike, visited Pokhara and Kathmandu, known and unknown places, temples and churches. We had the best local food inside and outside the cities.
I personally highly recommend Lonely Nepal Travels, they were all so positive, so welcoming and had great knowledge of the history of the country, the traditions, the religions and the areas we were visiting.

Thank you Ram! We had a great time and will definitely see you again soon!
