Langtang Valley Trek

This Langtang  Valley Trek is a comparatively challenging yet equally rewarding than other treks in the Langtang Region. Please note that this Trek is the best alternative for Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The experience of exploring hidden mysterious mountains, observing traditional Himalayan culture, capturing shining peaks, entering into ancient Gompas, and soaking into pure natural flora and fauna will remain with you forever.

Langtang Valley Trek starts  with a drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche through a rough pastoral road and dense forest. You enter Langtang National Park – the habitat of a wide range of plants, birds, and animal species. You may encounter endangered wild animals such as Black Bears, Snow Leopards, Musk Deers, and Red Pandas.

During your trek, you stroll on the rugged trails, pass through the various traditional settlements and green forests, observe spectacular snow-capped peaks, climb cliffs, cross rivers, and touch still lakes and white glaciers. Also, you visit the 700 years old monastery – Kyanjin Gompa and collect the experience of living with the local.

Itinerary

You will meet our representative when you land at the Tribhuvan International Airport. They will greet you, drive to the Nepali authentic restaurant or the place of your choice, and assist you in checking in at hotel in Kathmandu. So, please keep your eyes on someone holding a placard with your name or our company’s name – Lonely Nepal Travels.

In the evening, we meet for a short introduction. You will meet your guide, and our trekking expert will provide you with all the detailed information about the trek.

We offer you a welcome dinner, and you take a rest at the hotel. Then, overnight, you stay at hotel and restore your energy to visit Kathmandu and accomplish your adventurous trip to Langtang Valley.

Today, you will enjoy the Kathmandu Valley Tour – the city full of World Heritage Sites, Nepali culture, and many more activities to pursue.

Early morning, we offer you a warm breakfast, and your sightseeing starts with our city guide. At first, you visit Pashupatinath Temple – the holiest Hindu Temple on the bank of the sacred Bagmati River, then move to Boudhanath Stupa – the most significant Buddhist Stupa architecture in the world. After that, we will drive you to Patan Durbar Square. In addition, we take you to Swayambhunath Stupa – the 2000 years old legendary stupa on the hilltop, also nick-named as monkey temple. Finally, we come to Kathmandu Durbar Square and stroll around observing Kumari Temple (living goddess temple), Nautale Durbar, the Kaal Bhairav, the Swet Bhairav, the Freak Streets, and more around the locality.

Your exciting city tour finishes in the evening. Then, you will be guided to a delightful dinner and after just take a rest and prepare for the next day.

Early morning, we take a delicious breakfast and drive you towards Dhunche. Passing Kakani, Trisuli Bazar and Betrawati, Dhunche, we reach Syabru Besi. It is 8-9 hours drive. We drive through the dense woodland, countryside, traditional villages, terraced fields, and narrow ridges. No worries! The off-road trails offer you perfect green scenery, startling landscapes, and unbelievable snow-capped mountains – Annapurna II, Ganesh Himal, Mt. Manaslu, Langtang Lirung, and many other peaks.

Overnight, we stay at Syabrubesi and enjoy delicious meal.

After early breakfast early, we set out on our first day’s trip from Syabrubeshi. The trail through the forest up to Lama Hotel is a gradual. Along this stretch you walk through the green canopy overhead and soft breeze rustling leaves around.

Firstly, we climb the ridge and cross Ghopcha Khola. Ahead, we pass through the trails along the Langtang River, alpine/rhododendron forests, farmland, and rocky ridges. Even we may encounter endangered red panda, musk deer, snow leopard, monkeys, and many other animals.

Our final ascend steeply takes us to Changtang, which is well-known as Lama Hotel. We enjoy a spectacular view of streams, panoramic landscapes, and spectacular mountain ranges.

Overnight, we stay and take rest at Lama Hotel.

Today, we take a warm breakfast at Lama Hotel and start trekking towards Langtang village. First, we pass through dense bamboo, rhododendron, and oak forests and arrive at Gumanchowk (Riverside) alongside Langtang River. Next, we go up towards Ghora Tabela crossing the rhododendron/oak forest. Through the woods, you can see the sparkling glimpse of Langtang Lirung (7,244m).

Further, we continue our trek passing through the small villages – Thangshyap, Champki, and Gumba. Finally, we reach Langtang village. Overnight, we take shelter here.

We take a light breakfast and leave Langtang village for Kyanjin Gompa in the morning. Firstly, we climb the ridge topped by Chorten and Mani walls. Further, we cross a few streams and climb up gradually. We pass by several yak-herding villages such as Mundu, Sindum and Yampha.

Finally, we reach the majestic Kyanjin Gompa encircled by enchanting peaks – Langtang Lirung, Kyanjin Ri, Tserigo Ri, and Naya Kangri.

Overnight, we stay and take a rest here at Kyanjin.

This is the first acclimatization and exploration day at Kyanjin. After early morning breakfast, we hike to Tserko Ri peak. When we reach the peak, you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the all-inclusive landscapes of Langtang valley and shining peaks: Langtang Lirung, Yangsa Tenji, Langtang range, and a few other peaks. You enjoy the best views from Kyanjin Ri (4,850m/16,005ft) and Tserko Ri (5,000m/16,500ft) as they are the best viewpoints of Kyanjin.

In addition, we visit the traditional Yak cheese factory and sacred Kyanjin Gompa.

If you feel keen to explore more as well as time/climate allows, we trek to a few other peaks.

Overnight, we stay and take a rest at a Guesthouse at Kyanjin Gompa.

We retrace back to Lama Hotel after taking an early breakfast. From Kyanjin Gompa, we descend along the Langtang River, enjoying the outstanding glimpse of snow-capped summits.

After a few hours of trekking, we retrace the same way back to Langtang valley and Ghora Tabela. We descend from Ghora Tabela to Gumanchowk and then to Lama Hotel through an easy trail.

We stay at Lama Hotel for the night.

On this day, our trek descends to Bamboo village after a morning meal at Lama Hotel. We pass through deep rhododendron, alpine, and oak forest. We continue our trek crossing streams and suspension bridges to reach the Tamang and Sherpa settlement of Thulo Syabru – we can enjoy breathtaking views of the Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal ranges.

Overnight, we stay at Syabrubesi.

Today, your Langtang trek concludes. After a warm breakfast, we drive back to  Kathmandu, passing via small hills and dusty roads, deep forests, rural villages, and terraced agriculture. The trip allows us to take repose in the quiet setting, rich green vegetation, and picturesque mountain ranges. Finally, we arrive in Kathmandu in the afternoon after a 7-8 hours drive.

In Kathmandu, we will transfer you to the hotel. Then, you can take a rest or explore the streets and markets in Kathmandu. Even you can enjoy various cuisines at different restaurants in Thamel – Nepal’s No. 1 tourist city. Today, you may relax and check your bags for tomorrow’s departure.
